Congratulations to Hamilton Team Crossfit Ancaster for their excellent showing
at the Canadian National Championships. Tim McCrea led the way with an impressive run but miscalculated the finish and took a penalty.
An easy 1:40 ended up being a 1:53. Mike "Cash" Cascioli was up next recording a 1:39 to finish the Canadian season under one hundred
seconds despite a serious off season injury. That also put him in 6th place in the over 40 division. Mike Jones was first to lay down a personal record with a 1:39, his first sub hundred second.
Danny Folino showed his impressive fitness with a 1:33, but two penalties left him with an official 1:37. The story of the day was
Neil Hubley. With 3 teamates running in the 1:30's all year, he was the first to break the elite sub 90 second mark with his 1:28. Dean Morrow
ran next, recording a close but not quite enough 1:32 taking 4th place in the over 40 division. And finally, Louis Boiteau, current Hamilton Team record holder lowered his mark
with a spectacular 1:20 making him the 6th fastest firefighter in Canada.

September
The team will be heading to Medicine Hat on the 14th for the FireFit Canadian
National Championships. We've all been training hard, putting in hundreds of hours in the gym and at the tower since Ottawa
and everyone is expecting big things. We'd like to thank our sponsors for their support: Rosanna at Starfield Lion for the great gear
and service, Eddie at Crossfit Ancaster for caring...and the excellent training, Jeffy's Fab Farm for the welding and fabricating and Into Media Inc. for this cool site. Good luck to
Team Hamilton and all the competitors from across Canada!!!
August
The team recently competed in the Western Quebec/Eastern Ontario Regional Event in
Ottawa. Some exciting runs from Neil Hubley, setting a new personal best at 1:32 and Tim McCrea with 1:46. The relay team set a new Hamilton
record posting a 1:09 on its way to a silver medal finish. The tandem team of Dean Morrow and Mike Cascioli made short work of the competition
by taking home another gold in the NXG2 Over 40 Tandem. Next up is our National Championships in Medicine Hat in September. Stay tuned for some
solid races.
April
The team took part in the YMCA Spin For Kids spin-a-thon on April 16. Team members took turns
riding the bikes during the 6 hour spin class and we're proud to say the two bikes were never idle. Picture above is Mike Jones and Dean Morrow
presenting Robin Barker a cheque for $500 on behalf of Local 288.

Spring Update: The team has been training hard all winter
We've been through a squat cycle to improve our leg strength and are now working on
a leg endurance cycle. We're stepping up the intensity of our workouts now in preparation
for the start of the season. As always, thanks to CrossFit Ancaster and our trainer
Eddie Warne for the superior training.
We're also looking forward to
the opening of our new training tower. The tower will be an
integral part of our training and will be sure to put us into
contention at every competition.
March
We would like to welcome
Starfield Lion to the team. The entire team will be fitted with new,
electric blue bunker gear this season. It feels great, looks awesome
and custom fitted to each member. The Hamilton Fire Department is
also exclusively wearing Starfield Lion equipment.
January
The team is now working out
full time at CrossFit Ancaster. Under the new ownership of Eddie
Warne, we are doing the high intensity workouts required to improve
in this sport. The heavy Olympic lifting and endurance runs as well
as the nutritional support are sure to improve our personal bests
this year.
